Robert L. Ross
Area 5 Board Member
Robert L. Ross represents Area 5 on the Lawton Board of Education. He currently serves as the board’s president.
A longtime Lawton resident, Ross graduated from Lawton High School in 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 and his juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 1977.
Mr. Ross is an attorney in the law offices of Newcombe and Redman, P.C. He is a trustee of the Leslie Powell Trust and sits on the board of the Helen Holliday Foundation. He also served on the City of Lawton’s Traffic Commission from 1994 to 1999, serving as its chairman in 1998 and 1999.
Mr. Ross is involved in such civic projects of the Oklahoma and Comanche County bar associations as Law Day, the Teen Moot Court competition and the “Ask a Lawyer” information program.
He and his wife, Laura, have two sons: Patrick and Michael, who are students at Lawton High School.
Mr. Ross was elected to the Lawton Board of Education in February 2000, and was re-elected unopposed in 2005. He represents Area 5, which serves the Adams, Douglass, Washington, Whittier and Wilson elementary school districts, along with a portion of Pat Henry (east of 18th Street) and Pioneer Park (north of Rogers Lane) districts.
